Connect third-party apps to Canva AI

Connect third-party apps like Slack, Gmail, Zoom, or Notion to give Canva AI more context to generate designs, content, and insights that are more relevant to you. Once connected, you can use information from your apps in your prompts without leaving Canva.

You can connect your apps to Canva AI from your homepage or while editing a design.

From the homepage

Connect third-party apps from the homepage

  1. From your homepage, go to
    Canva AI.
  2. In the search bar, select the
    Plus icon, then choose
    Connect apps.
  3. Choose from the list of available apps.
  4. If you haven't linked your account, select Connect and follow the prompts to authorize Canva to access your content.
  5. Toggle on the app to activate it.
  6. Enter a prompt, then select the
    Submit button.

From the editor

Connect third-party apps from the editor

Note: Connecting third-party apps through the Canva Editor is supported only on the desktop app and web browser. This feature is not available on the Canva mobile app.

  1. Open a design, then select the
    Templates,
    Elements, or
    Canva AI tab.
  2. In the search bar, select the
    Plus icon, then choose
    Connect apps.
  3. Choose from the list of available apps.
  4. If you haven't linked your account yet, select Connect and follow the prompts to authorize Canva to access your content.
  5. Toggle on the app to activate it.
  6. Enter a prompt, then select the
    Submit button.

Tip: You can have up to 5 apps active at a time. If you've reached the limit, toggle off an existing app to activate a new one. Toggling off an app doesn’t disconnect it. It just stops Canva AI from using it as context.

Troubleshooting

Fix Canva AI not recognizing a connected app

What can cause this

  • The app isn't turned on.
  • Your prompt doesn't clearly reference the app or the information you want to use.

What to do

  1. Make sure the app is turned on. If it isn't, follow the steps to connect apps from the homepage or the editor.
  2.  Mention the app or its content in your prompt.

For example, instead of: Create a presentation about my meetings.

Try: Create a presentation using my Google Calendar events from this week.

Note: If you recently connected the app, refresh the page. If the issue continues, disconnect and reconnect the app.
